MR CARROLL URGES DAIRYING

(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, -Majcii 26. The Hon. Air. Carroll met a large gathering of Ahaoris at Ruatoki to discuss with them the utilisation of the U.rewera lands. He received a cordial welcome, but there was a distinct division of the Natives into two parties, headed by Kereru and Rua, the latter being described by an impassioned adherent as the brother of Jesus Christ. Kereru said Rua did not renresent tho owners of the land. Even "if the bulk of, the Ureweras followed him, the chiefs would not do so. Air Carroll said he had come to discuss with them and advise them as to the settlement of their land. He urged on them the importance of further developing the dairy industry, in which they had already made some progress.
