CARRIER PIGEONS TO BE USED

(Per Press Association.) OHRhSTCHURCII, March 26. Owing to the operation of the Gaming Act, tho telegraph office at the Riccarton .racecourse was run at a loss at tho .summer meeting of the C. J.C. In consequence this office will probably be discontinued in future. Tho closing of tho offico will necessitate tho use of carrier pigeons by tho Press Association and local papers. Tho Association will send messages by pigeon to Christchurch, anil thence by wire.
