THE WAIROA FATALITY.
DROWNED MAN IDENTIFIED.
METHYLATED SPIRITS AS A BEVERAGE. Press Association. WAIROA, March 23. The body of the man found on tho foreshore of the Wairoa river on Friday has been identified as Edward Maryott, an Australian, married, with a- wife and daughter in Australia. Evidence showed that ho had been drinking, and on the evening of his death bought methylated spirits. He seems to have been'under the bridge all tho night of the storm, and became stupid, and was unable to get away from the rising ilood waters. A verdict to this effect was returned. The local press advises restrictions on the sale of the spirit, which is now got up quite handsomely and easily procurable by prohibited persons.
