ARRIVAL OF THE SURREY.

Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 23. The steamer Surrey arrived from the West Coast of England and the ports of Cape Town ami Hobart yesterday, with 121 immigrants for the Dominion. Of this number 52- joined I lie vessel at Cape Town, the remainder being from tlio Old Country. Tlio Auckland passengers number 50. The majority of the immigrants are tradespeople, and there .is a sprinkling of farmers and laborers. According to their statements, the position ot tln' worker is anything but cheerful at Home, while the South Africans take up an e'en more depressing attitude with regard to their country, where matters generally are stated to be m a very bad way.
