TO-DAY’S SPORTS.
GATHERING AT VICTORIA DOMAIN.
A sports gathering under the auspices of the local branch of the H.A.C.B.S. will be' held to-day on Victoria Domain, commencing at 1 p.m., and as the weather promises to be excellent a good day’s entertainment can be confidently proniisod. It is some time since sports were held to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and today’s gathering should be more welcome on that account. The arrangements are in good hands, and are well forward. Several side-shows will bo on the ground. The cli'klren will bo well catered for with games, Mr. P. Maher having charge ol : this department. The track at the Domain has received considerable attention, and has been thoroughly rolled. The entries for the main running races are large, and as all the local “cracks” are competing some good racing can be looked for. The programme includes seventeen events of a varied nature, which arc sure to receive large entries. Included in the programme is a mile bicycle race, for which the competitors have been in hard training for some time. Mr. W. Howard does the handicapping for the athletic events, and Mr. H. Anderson for the cycle race, which indicates that the finishes will be close. Messrs G. Wildish and J. Nisbett will officiate as judges.
Messrs P. Sheridan and E. 'Williams tlio joint secretaries, have worked hard in the interests of the gathering, and present indications are that the whole meeting will go off without a hitch.
