CUSTOMS REVENUE.
The following revonue was received at the Custom House last week: Customs duties £612 os od, beer duty £3B, light dues £l9 10s Gd, shipping fees 14s Gd, Harbor Board revenue £l3l lGs lid; total, £Bl4 13s id.
STOCK SALES. The following is the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile report oil the stock salo hold at Matawhoro on Thursday last. Tho yardings were heavy in both departments and the attendance was about up to the averago. SHEEP. Tlio salo was chnctcrised by an almost entire absence of demand for wethers and lambs. The demand appearod sufficient to absorb all lines of useful owes. The recent drought seems to have resulted in sheep-farm-ers getting off smaller numbers of fat stock , so the demand for wethers at present time is limited. Our entry comprised 3614, of which we sold 1G65 at , following quotations:—cull ewes 4s 6d to 7s (id, according to age and condition; full mouth owes 9s to 9s 9d; fat ewes 11s; 2-tooth ewes 11s 3d to 12s 3d; lambs in forward condition 9s. Wo also sold Border Leicester rams at 3 guineas and aged rams 30s to 355.
CATTLE. Our entry comprised 211, and we sold 187, mostly steers. Quotations being for 18-montli old to 3-year old mixed ages £3 17s Gd ; forward 3-yca/ old £5 11s to £G 2s Gd; small calves 14s. We sell again at Matawliero yards on 19th. lust, and also at Mr Con. Neenan’s, Ormond, on Tuesdav, 17th inst. when there will be a useful lot of stock yarded. SHEEPSKINS. United Press Association —Copyright LONDON, March 13. At tlio sheepskin, sales 7300 were offered, including 6500 Australian. Bidding was slow., and there were large withdrawals, especially of short Merinos. Compared with the January sales, Merinos declined ad, fine medium cross-breds Id, coarse- cross-breds-ld to IJd.
