• ANNUAL TOURNAMENT. Only one game was played on Saturday morning at 9 o’clock to enable the players to take part in the old boys’ cricket match at Taruheru. Mangalieia No. I. (handicap 3) met Poverty Bay No. 11. (handicap 22) in the handicap competition. Tho teams took the field as under:— T-‘ Mangahoia No.I (green and white): •R.’.K. Murphy. 1, B. G. Black 2, G. M. Reynolds 3, R. C. Murphy (back). Poverty Bay No. 11. (yellow and black): C. Gray 1, J. Monckton 2, G. Black 3, S. G. Gillingham (back). Air. J. Rutledge acted as umpire. The ground was a triflo heavy after the rain, but the game was a most interesting one to watch. The Mangaheia men played with excellent combination, and succeeded in putting on 20 goals. Poverty Bay 11. did not succeed in scoring, and Mangaheia thus won by one goal. The play was exceptionally fast at times, and rapid and exciting changes from one end of the field to the other succeeded in quick succession. Play will bo resumed to-day.
