Consequently all.cricket matches and other athleticAlixturns were postponed., , A. E. Keif, the English professional who has been acting as coach hero for the past two seasons, left on his return to England to-day, via Wellington. „ .. , It is stated that an English professional cricketer will bo imported to New Zealand for next season, but Ins exact destination is at present unknown here. , ~ „ The visit of the English footballers is looked forward to here with much interest, especially as Auckland did so well against the last team. In football circles here, howover, the general opinion is that one test will not bo at all satisfactory, especially if England should happen to win, and three tests at least are advocated. If the reputod best men could not play in all three, it would give others a chance to distinguish themselves, While wo oould put to the test the arguments used when the All Blacks went Home, that there was a team almost. as good, if not equal to that sent Home. Tests could be substituted for the two Island matches, _ and the local union will probably discuss tho matter during the week.
