BOWLING.

A large number of members were present on the Gisborne Club’s green yesterday afternoon. Two of the Shield matches were commenced, but had to be abandoned owing to the rain. On the 7th head of their game W. Pettie, Fordyce, Ambridgo, and Witty (Haiti) had scored 9 to 2 scored by Redstone, Seymour, Corson, and Hcnnessy (Whataupoko). In the other game 10 heads were played, W. R. Clarkson, Craig, Eure, and Ponsford (Haiti) scored 16 against 3 put on by E. Williams. Houlihan, Hookey amt F. A. Martin. In the colts’ singles, J. F. Pettie scored 21 to H. iller’s 10, 15 heads being played. I’altridge (9) and Hcnnessy (4) played their game in tho handicap singles, each contestant scoring 20.
