From the. top of Hie beliry the fire appeared to be in the upper part ot Gladstone Road, and a considerable distance beyond Roebuck Road. J lie Haines seemed to have obtained a good bold, and sparks were being throtvn a considerable distance into tlio air t Air. W. Fraser, niglitwatchman, was in Gladstone Road about the llqyal Hotel when be observed the glare, and immediately sounded tlio alarm.
