AUSTRALIAN PREAIIERS’ OPINIONS. United Press Association— Copyright (Received Fell. 3, 1 a.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 2. Air. Wade is of opinion that some protest should be made against tho proposal of the Imperial party in Germany to send convicts to their Pacific possessions. AIELBOURNE, Feb. 2. Air. Deakin, interviewed concerning the German convict proposal, said: “One dees not comment on tho proposal made, because comment at this stage might he an intrusion, hut all I will say is that the German Reichstag is certain to consider the influence upon its own tropic possessions of an influx of sucli a class of settlers. We could not witness such a departure without regret for their settlements on the Pacific, and without some apprehension for our own.” [A cable from Berlin on Saturday stated that the Imperial party in the Reichstag request the Government to modify the penal code in order to provide for tho transportation to German colonies in the Pacific, of long-sentenc-ed criminals, who are physically and montally adapted for removal.]
