MEETING AT INVERCARGILL. Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Jan. 31. At the annual meeting of the members of tlie South Island branch of the National Dairy Association to-night, it was resolved that the subscription should be on the basis of tonnage without limit, also that all matters for discussion at the annual conference ho put in the hands of the. secretary thirty clear days before the confeveuco, and bo forwarded at once t-o the various directorates for consideration, and that it be recommended to the Minister for Agriculture to include tho cooling of milk in dairy inspectors’ duties, and that inspectors instruct and assist farmers as to the cheapest and best mode for same. The motions carried are for recommendation to the annual conference. Mr. Sawers, Government instructor, gave an address on cheese grading, stating, inter alia, that though this was going on as usual he was unable to detect any great improvement in cheese, though it was a little bettor in flavor.
Mr. Singleton, acting Dairy Commissioner., spoke on dairying generally, and expressed the opinion that New Zealand had little to learn. In what they were trying to do they wanted not more knowledge, hut more cave.
