A large number of members assembled on tlie green yesterday, and some interesting and exciting play was witnessed. Following are details of the play : Handicap Singles.—ll. F. Houlihan (26) beat C. It. Ambridgo (22), J. Coleman (33) beat Zaoliariah (18), Gandhi (25) boat Alarray (24), O. Hansen (IS) boat E. Burton (17). Handicap Pairs.-—Oman and Brady (23) beat Fordyco and F. Harris (13), Boucher and Henuossy (21) beat Ivy me and Johnston (20). Ordinary Games. —German, Jacobs, Shepherd, and J. Coleman (22) beat Ataekrell, O’Meara, E. Lowis, and F. A. Alartin (21), H. Mil lor, G, Aliller, F. Eure, and J. AV. Bright (24) beat Zacliariali, R,. Crawford, Al. Craig, and T. A. Crawford (19), Semple, Malcolm, F. Pet tie, and Gaudm (24) beat Preston, Houlihan, AVilliams, and AVitty (17), Bullock, E. Burton, Robertson, and Caldwell (17) boat Alorgan, Corson, Ambridgo, and AV Pettio (10), Elliott, Lawless, Atmoro, and F. J. AVilson (23) beat Leslie, Cusson, C. Hansen, and Redstono (14). Gaines in the Bennett Cup and championship medal competition woro continued yesterday.
AL G. Nasmith, jun., went off with tho lead in his game against D. Hepburn, but on the Gth head Hepburn reversed matters, being 8 to his opponent's 3_ 'With good drawing Nasmith drew up, and had scored 12 to Hepburn’s S on the 12th head. Hopburn. scored singles on the three succeeding heads. On tho next head Nasmith scored four, and finally won by 20 +o 13. J. J. Alartin secured tho load in the game against P. Hallam, being 5 to 4 on the sth head, and he was 18 to his opponent’s G on tho 14th head. Hallam thenceforth drew well, and reached 15 to Alartin’s 18 on the final head.
Tho game between ‘ Al. Neill and C. J_ Bennett was close throughout. Bennett led by 9 to 5 on the 7th head, but Neill made matters even oil tho 12th head, tho score being 11 all, and tlie score was 14 all on the 17th head. In tho next head Bennett with an unfortunate bowl allowed Neill to score 4, Neill winning finally to 20 to 15.
P. Hallam jumped away from A. Sawyer, and on the 12th head he was 12 to Sawyer’s G. From this point Sawyer put in somo good play, and gradually overtook liis opponent, winning by 21 to 16. The most exciting game was that between J. J. Alartin and B. Hird. Alartin jumped off in the lead from the start, and on the lltli head was IS to Hird’s 7.. On the next head Alartin played rather carelessly, allowing Hird to get 4, and Hird, keeping the jack, steadily approached Alartin’s score, drawing level on the 48th head with tho score IS all. On the following head .Hird scored one, and made another single on the 20th liead, leaving Alartin three to get to win. Alartin managed to get the required number, Hird playing rather poorly on the last head.
