THE GISBORNE SEAT

Mr. W. Lissant Clayton states that there is a possibility of his coming forward as a candidate at tlio next general election. He lias been approached by a,number of local people, and by some of the leaders of tile Opposition party, but be lias not been able to give any definite reply.

THE BAY OE PLENTY SEAT

Spoken to by a “Times” renortor yesterday, Mr. W. I). S. Macdonald -stated that- lie bad been approached by the settlers to come forward as a candidate for the Bay of Plenty electorate, but in all probability his private business will not allow him to accept nomination. It is stated that Mr. Peebles, of Opotiki. will contest the seat, in addition to Mr. Gow, Mr. W. J. P. Gaudin, Mr. G. F. E. Hindmarsh, and Mr. W. D. Lysnar.
