A large amount of timber has arrived in Gisborne lately, three scows having brought a total cf 29 000 feet for Messrs deaiuko and Coy, and the Zingara 200 000 feet for the Alpha Sawmills Coy. The Zin gara’s cargo is the largest she ha - ? ever brought to the port. By the Fanny from Napier tliero arrived on Saturday 40 rams from Mr. Short’s flock for Messrs G. Sainsbury and Tullock, 47 rams from Messrs Gray Bros., AVairarapa for Messrs C, Manning and Austin, and 22 Border Leicester rams from Messrs. Nelson Bros, for Mr. J. A. AlcDougall.
A reminder is given to horse owners that the acceptances and general entries for the Gisborne Racing Club’s meeting, to be heldnext week, close with the secretary (Mr. M. G. Nasmith) to-morrow, Tuesday evening. The meeting promises to he a groat success, and given fine weather tliero should be a record attendance.
. All arrangements are now completed for a return season of four nights of Pollard’s Opera Company, commencing on "Wednesday week, February sth. The opening production will be “The Isle of Bong Bong, which will be produced m Mr. bollard’s characteristic style. The box pjp.ans will be opened at Miller s Corner on Friday next at 10 a.m.
