CLARA BUTT IN WELLINGTON.

NEW SYSTEM TO DEAL WITH THE CROWD. Special to Times. WELLINGTON, Jan. 22. A custom unfamiliar to the Wellington public, but almost universal in the great cities of the Old World, was introduced with considerable success at the Butt concert in the Town Hall last night. The “queue” system was rigidly enforced by the police in order to control the great crowd. The audience moved inside four abreast, and some people who arrived late looked indignantly at the moving squadron, but the police were inexorable, and the unpunctual had to take the inevitable position in the rear. The extension of the queue principle to other performances is contemplated.
