A meeting of all persons .interested in the liquor trade will he held shortly. It is intended to at once commence active operations in the campaign against the abolition of the liquor traffic. A Palmerston correspondcnt'-slutcs, that- a. visitor from Fiji is at presentin that district inquiring into .the flax industry with a view to introducing it into Fiji. The Hon. J. A. Miller during his recent trip to‘tho north, had a. “royal time” fishing ac Rotorua. One daylie made the record catch of the season. an eleven and a quarter pounder. Fishing for live hours ©ln another duv, Mr Millar secured 14 fid i one of which was a nine pounder. Rotorua lake, Air .Millar says, is simply alive with fish -at the-present time and 1 they want “thinning out.” A few manufacturers who have been directly -approached by the Department of Industries and Commerce, have agreed- to- help New Zealand to make a good display at the-F-ranco-British Exhibition, but others have not come forward, though a general invitation has been, extended' to all. Hie Department is now ven- busy collecting goods which must- all be shipped by February 13th,
