SHEARERS’ DISPUTE.

SITTING OF CONCILIATION BOARD. Press Association. NAPIER, January 14. Tlio Conciliation Board held its first sitting in connection with tlie shearers’ dispute, at Masterton on Monday. Representatives of both Farmers’ Union and Shearers’ Union were present but no evidence wa: volunteered on behalf of the former, and tlie Chairman of the Board saiu they would not hear evidence from the other side unless evidence was also given on behalf of the farmers. He suggested that the two bodies interested should hold a conference to see if an agreement coy Id be come to and if this were done tho Board would embody that agreement as tlieii recommendations. In the meantime the proceedings, of the Board at Napier and Palmerston would be held in camera and the evidence would not be used if a settlement were arrived at by the representativs of tlie respective unions. Tlie Board then adjourned.
