LAND BOARD.
The Hawke’s Bay Lind Board met at the local Land and Survey Office yesterday morning. The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr H. Trent) was in tho chair and Messrs Hyde, Groom and Bertram wore also present. The Rev. E.-Walker applied to purchase section 30, block 11., Alotu village for the Presbyterian Church Trustees. —The Land officer was requested to supply a report as to the desirability of disposing of the section. „ „■ Mr D. Wilkinson applied 'for timber cutting rights over Crown lands in blocks I and 11., Ngatapa, 5D and proposed education reserve, and authority to construct a tramline to Puha. —Tho Board confirmed the Commissioner’s action in writing to applicant stating that his application was not in accordance with the regulations. Mr J. W. Bright asked for permission for Air John Alclvry to cut 20 acres of hush on section 3, block 10. Wigan.—Agreed to. AV. H. Perry applied to transfer 1000 acres in B.G. run 12 A AYainga-
romia, to T. Utting.— I The application was ,refused. Applicant is to be informed that if ho so wishes ho may sub-let. Tho transfer of section 37, block 15, Hangarou, from Jus. Coombo to Jas. Berry was granted. Tho transfer of half interest in section 1, block 13, Ngatapa from AV. Jl. Renner to E. R. Ronnor was approved. Mr \\ f . D. Lysnar wrote asking lor permission to sub-let, limited to timber cutting -rights in respect of the following: —Henson and Green to W. A. Linibriek, sec. 5, block G, Motn; AL Riddick to same, part 0, block 7, Alotu; 11. G. Burgess to same, see. 2, block 10, Alotu; J. H. Alarshall to- same, part I, block 5, Alotu, and A. Mortleman to same, I and 10, blocks 10 and 11, Alotu.— It was decided to reply that tlie Board had no control over tho timber on- tho lands in question, -and that is was entirely a matter for privato arrangement. Tho Ranger submitted 35 .reports of inspection. The improvements required were £l-I,4GG 2s 4d and those effected were £85,5G5. Tlios. Preston wrote asking to be allowed to select a section in the To Arai estate without competition.— The application, was made in respect of a clause of the Act which provides that employees on acquired estates were given preference over other applicants if their occupation had been done away with. —'The Commissioner saitl applicant was not eligible as he was an employee of tho late lessee and not of the late owner. — ’Lt was decided to reply to him to this effect.
