Palmerston defeated Given meadows in the match for first and second honors. Palmerston North’s winning team was N'usli (.skip), Mowlam, Scott, and Young. The Gisborne representatives at the/Anekliiml tournament, with the exception of Air. John Coleman, return to-morrow, and local bowlers have decided to give them a cordial welcome back. This will take the form of a concert and social evening on tho Gisborne Club's grounds tomorrow evening, at which it is hoped that tlio Napier representatives, who return by. the same steamer, will be able to be present.

P»oss Association. AYANGANUI January 13. .Trcsidder, on being taken over the Kaiwhaiki course, ten miles above town, whero the world’s championship is to be rowed, expressed complete satisfaction. This veiw was endorsed by his trainer, Bain, and his pacemaker, Ford, the former of whom considers it a much fairer courso than tho Paramatta, and superior in every way. Tho finish will be threequart ere of a milo further down tho river, than tho finish of tho AVebbStanbiry race, giving but ono easy turn in three miles, with a mile straight at tho finish. It has been definitely decided that the match between AYebb and Tresidder for the sculling championship of the world shall take place on tho Wanganui river on Tuesday, 25th of February. The iirst round of the trial fours for tiophies presented to the P.B. Club by Air. Frank Harris was comment 1 ' ti last evening, when two heats were lowed off. Crews stroked by J. AYebb and' G. Peterson were tho -first out-, and after a- good race the former was declared the winner by a length. C. Smith’s and F. Seymour’s crews next met, and got well away together. Shortly after the start, however, Smith fouled, losing several lengths, and although gaining a lot of ground he was -unable to bridge the gap altogether, and Seymour won by about half a length. To-night the races will be continued, when Jones meets Stewart, and Nicholas and Fox also trv conclusions.

A committee meeting of the P.B. Club was held at the sheds last night. It was decided that the names of •crews wijl now be taken to compete in the trial fours for trophies presented by the president (Mr. E. P. Joyce), an entrance fee of 2s being fixed.
