SHEARERS’ WAGES.
DEMANDS TO BE COMBATED. FARMERS’ FIGHTING FUND STARTED. PreßS Association. PHAIATUAj January 7. A largely-attended meeting of sheep farmers was held hero this afternoon to consider the shearers’ dispute. Mr. Samuel Bolton presided. Mr. Cooper was the chief speaker and detailed the demands of the Shearers’ Union and the objections formulated by the Farmers’ Union to these demands. The following resolutions were unanimously passed:—That this meeting agrees to support the programme of the Executive of Do Farmers’ Union and agrees to apprutMr. Cooper as their representative before the Arbitration Court and object- to appear before the Conciliation Board ; that this meeting agrees to pay five shilling per 100 sheep towards the expenses of defending the farmers’ case in Court. Papers cv«ro numerously signed agreeing to this course.
ACTION BY HAWKES BAY FARMERS’ UNION.
NAPIER, January 7. A mooting of __ the Hawke’s Bay branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held at Hastings this afternoon to discuss the shearers’ dispute. A coimnittte was appointed to act as representatives of the Union before the Arbitration Court, but it was decided not to offer any evidence before the Conciliation Board.
