ENTERTAINMENTS

COOPER’S OPERASCOPE. i The second night’s performance ol this company was witnessed by a large audience at His Majesty’s Theatre last night. With the exception of two or three items an entire change of programme was submitted. 1 n liich was very acceptable after some, of the announced “changes of programme” which have been experi-. enced in Gisborne in the past. “The - Girl from Montana” and “Sliamur O’Brien” were tho two principal, films, and, running remarkably smoothly, were greatly enjoyed by the audience. A film representing experiments with liquid electricity was responsible for a good deal ot merriment, and was heartily applauded. “The lßobby and the Motor Car,” and a beautifully colored picture showing an eclipse of the sun, were also presented, and were respectively amusing and instructive. Bongs were rendered at intervals by Miss Fisher, and the parte in t’le new comedy- sketch entitled -“The New Footman” were ably sustained by Miss Fisher and Mr. 'Wilson.

To-night another programme will be submitted, when the “star” of the collection of films, “The Mikado,” will be shown. Special mention should bo made of the phonograpn attachment to the machine, which reproduces the songr with great clearness. This is really an excellent film, and patrons should take this final opportunity of witnessing what, taken all round, is a first-class entertainment.

A matinee performance was given yesterday, and was well attended, esspociilly by the little folks, who immensely enjoyed themselves, the old favorite story of “Alice in Wonderland” commanding their special attention.
