To-day Common, (Shelton, and Co.’s eleven proceed by drag, leaving town at 7.‘15 'a.m., to the Jleay station, where they play tho Wainguko team. On t'lie last occasion on which C. S. and Co.’s team visited Wainguko, the country players gave them a stilt day’s leather-hunting and a severe drubbing. The team which leaves today is a much stronger combination, and the town players hope to tutu the tables on their opponents. MARRIED V. SINGLE. Tho P.B.C. Association had a married v. single match in tho (Domain yesterday on tho newly-laid turf wicket. The Married men batted first, but owing to the wicket being sticky were all disposed of for 42 runs. R. Coop (14) and Glennie (12) were the only double-figure scorers. Tho Bachelors then went in, and were disposed of for 98 runs. J. Gibson (36) and A. Young (31) were responsible for the most runs, both playing a fine innings. The Married men then went in for a second time, and made 84 rune, Cary with 28 being the principal scorer. R. Coop (15) and Hogg (11) were the only other doublefigure scorers. The Single men made 82 in tlieir c.’cond innings, thus winning by 54 runs. Young, Reynolds, and Harker were the best bowlers for the Single men, whilst McColl, Hallamore, and Glennie were the best of the Married bowlers. CANTERBURY. Press Association. WELLINGTON, Jan. 1. Wellington playing Canterbury today scored 329 (Williams 58, Laws 45, Mahony 44, Beechy 43, Tucker 34, Hickson 21, "extras” 33). The. ground was fast, and the wicket inclined to be fiery. Several chances were missed. Orchard took two wickets for 25, but none of the other bowlers did well. The visitors replied with 100 for no wickets (Patrick not out 28. Wood not out 62, "extras” 10). The latter drove with great vigor and played really well.
