A DECEASED BANKER
MR. HELLICAR’S CAREER. (Special to Times. WELLINGTON, Dec. 30. Mr. Ames Hellicar, whose death is announced to-day, was appointed super intendent of the Bank of Australasia for the Commonwealth^ and New Zealand in December, 1905, in place of Mr. John Sawers, who had resigned owing to failing health. Mr. Helltoar was at the time Inspector for New Soufh Wales and Queensland, having previously been manager at Sydney and Launceston. In the --arly seventies he was in the bank’s service in New'Zealand at Chi-iifclmreli and Auckland. In August. 1906, lie had a paralytic stroke, which proved so serious that in March, 1907, 110 resigned, Mr. C. R. Cooper, then Inspector for New Zealand. succeeding him. Mr. Helliear’s death was not unexpected.
