NEW ZEALAND BUTTER
POSITION IN ENGLAND. Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. 30. “The chef to the Prince of Wales inspected an exhibit of New Zealand butter at the Cookery and Food Exhibition at AVestminster recently, and expressed the highest appreciation of the quality,” writes H. C. Cameron, produce commissioner, to the Department of Industries and Commerce. “Unfortunately under present conditions,” adds Mr. Cameron. “I regret that it is quite impossible to tell those inquiring where retail purchases of genuine New Zealand butter can be made—that butter is not retailed asNewZealand but simply as colonial, which term embraces all butter from Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, etc. No guarantee, therefore, can he given that New Zealand butter will he obtained when asked for. Tho sale of milled butter or other secondary New Zealand butter as New Zealand also does not help to advance the reputation of the produce of the Dominion. The advertising and retail distribution of New Zealand butter in this country is a subject well worthy of the attention of the National Dairy Associations in New Zealand.”
