THE COLLIERY TROUBLE
THE CORRECT POSITION AT DENNISTON.
Press Association. WESTPORT, Dec. 29. It docs not seem to bo generally understood that the Westport Coal Company offered before tho caso came to the Court to give tho Denniston miners tho bank-to-Tiank clause, subject only- to arrangement of travelling time to and from the respective working places, which the management considered absolutely necessary to ensure the regular working of machinery. This offer the men refused and the case went before the Court, and judgment was given ill favor of tho company. Notwithstanding tins, however, the company repeatedly offered to forego d! ause 16 of the award and give the bank-to-bank clause on similar terms to those agreed to by the Granity .miners, but this was again refused by the men. • x
