PERSONAL.
■Mr F. J. Rowley, headmaster of the Gisborne School, left on Saturday for Auckland, to attend the annual meeting of the Educational Institute. Mr 'F. Rowley, deputy Chief Inspector of Factories, is at present in town on a Departmental visit. Mr J. L. Perry, who was injured in a coach accident at Waimata recently, was brought to town on Saturday for the purpose of going into a private hospital. The Rev. M. AY. Butterfield has been appointed headmaster of the Waerenga-a-hika Native Boy’s College, and Mr RowaL Tawhiri Jias been appointed assistant. Mr. H. E. Dodd, recently of the local staff of the Bank of New South Wales, finally left last flight to take up his new duties in Napier. Mr. F. McGovern, who succeeded Mr. Dodd at the Bank of New South Wales, took up his new duties on Saturday. Mr. D. J. Barry, who has been on a trip to England, is expected to return on Wednesday by the ZealancLia.
Mr. G. B. Oman was a passenger to Napier last night on a business trip. Mr. McKinnon, of the s.s. Tuatea, who was injured in the bay last week, is progressing favorably. Mr. G. R. Wyillio returned from Auckland last evening after a short holiday trip. Messrs J. A. Lucas and J. F. Pettie were passengers South by the Waikare last evening. His Lordship the Bishop of Waiapu returned to Napier last night. Miss Strouts, teacher at the Native school at Awapuni, left by the Waikare last night, on route for Lyttelton.
