MATAAVHERO STOCK SALE,
The usual fortnightly sallo was hold at Matawliero 011 Tuesday instead of to-day, owing to the holiday’s. Tlus entries were very’ small, both in sheep and cattle, and tho attendance of buyers was tho smallest seen at tho yards for soino time. A detiSrc was -ovdiiccil on all sides to get done quickly, aiM tho auctioneers, catching tho spirit of the buyers, acted accordingly, with tho result that tho sale concluded before luncli. Sheep.—Only 371 wore yarded, and comprised chiefly fat and forward owes. The majority of the lots were passed in, bidding being extremely dull, but a few changed hands at late prices. Fat ewes realised up to 13s 3d. while a line of store wetiiors fetched the fair price of 13s 4d. A nice lot of 30 mixed 2-tooths changed hands at 1.2 s 6d. Cattle. —140 head were yarded, and the dot- intlluded a few nice dairy stock and some light beef. As was the case with the sheep here again the demand was poor and pen after pen was passed in. Twenty-four heifers changed hands at prices varying from £2 12s 6d to £3 ss, and the same number of steers at from 36s to £4. These were all that were disposed of at auction, but a number changed hands privately after the sale at slightly easier prices. A number of pigs and horses were offered, but in neither class was there a bid and no business, was done. Tho next sale will ta'ke plare at Matawliero on 9th January, 1908.
