PERSONAL.
Not much change is reported in the condition of Mr. J. Cannon, who was injured recently up tlio Coast. Several expedients have been adopted to relievo tho pressure on the spine, but at present there is small hope of a complete recovery. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. 'Barton were passengers for Napier by tho Mono•wai last evening. Mr. E. Sheet, of Mangapoiki, is at present in town. Messrs. T. A. Coleman and A. 1. Coleman were passengers to Auckland on Saturday morning, per the Mokoia. Mr. Alt’ Tanner left for Sydney per the Mokoia on Saturday morning. Yesterday Detective Broberg and Constable A. Skinner, who were engaged in. the pursuit of Matenga left for Wellington. Mr. Keith Ramsay, who has been in Gisborne lately fixing up for the purchase of the Kotare, returned South last night. Constable 'Pratt, of the local force, resumes duty this morning, after an absence of three weeks, during which time ho underwent an operation. The Veil. Archdeacon li. Williams is making steady progress towards recovery, although he still finds it necessary to use crutches. Captain Gumming, harbormaster, arrived back from Auckland last evening.
