The Central News Agency states rthat a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Caldwell on charges, c conspiracy and perjury. It was found that he had started for America on Thursday unknown to. the police, despite his London .residence being watched. „ MELBOURNE, December 10. An attempt was made on Saturday to derail the Adelaide express near Hursham. Five sleepers were placed on the raiflsj but the engine, going at high speed, cut through the obstruction without leaving the rails. •SYDNEY, Dec. 16. In consequence of the generous vote of the Commonwealth (Government (£5000) the appeal for subscriptions to assist Lieutenant Shackleton’s expedition has been withdrawn.
