Advice lias been received that at •ho annual tournament of tho northern jjoivling Association to be held m Auckland a fours game will bo played for trophies valued at 26 guineas, divided as follows:—First prize, lour gold medals, and four trophies of the value of three guineas each; second prizo, four gold medals and four trophies valued at 1J guineas each; third prize, four tropnies valued at two guineas each. Tho names of rinks wishing to coiupeto tavo to bo forwarded to the secretary of tbo Association before the tournament starts. The prizes are donated by tho citizens of Auckland. Saturday was a quiet day on tho Gisborno Club’s green, only a few games being played. It. Johnston, Bullock, W. Pettie, and Corson (20) beat Fordyce, Krotcihmar, Martin, and Ifworson (14), and after a close

game a rink skipped by Simson beat a rink skipped by Bright, by 19 to 18. Rinks skipped by J. F. Pettie, anil Redstone tried conclusions, hut time would not permit of tlio completion of the game, and it will be finished- during the week. Tho Gisborne Ci’.ub’s Handicap Fours competition is drawing near its close. Simson is to meet Crawford, anil the final will bo between the winenr of this game and Witty.

A largo number'of bowlers were present at the Turangaimi Club on Saturday. The green was in firstclass order, and a number of interesting games were, contested. Tlie first round of the Handicap Pairs competition was concluded, when Bennett and Nasmith, sour (skip) met Devery and Gnu dill (skip). On the seventh head the former pair had overtaken their opponents’ handicap of -two points, but oil the three succeeding heads Devery and Gendin obtained six. four, and four "oints respectively and established a strong lead, which they kept until the finish, eventually winning by 33 to 15. Gauilm played very well, and showed a glimpse of his old form, this being by far the best game he has played this season.
