BOOKMAKERS’ LICENSES. Press Association. DUNEDIN, Dec. 13. At a meeting of the committee of tho Dunedin Jockey Club it was decided to license (bookmakers at a, fee of £2O per day for the summer meeting, one clerk to be allowed for each bookmaker, provided- ( such clerk was not a bookmaker himself; no bookmaker or clerk to be allowed on the grandstand or lawn, and no bookmaker’s clerk to bo allowed to call til/? odds. Bookmakers 1:o restrict betting to a place set aside for the purpose. DARGAVILLIk Dec. 13. The secretary of the Kaihu Hack Racing Club has received the following telegram from tho Premier: “Hack and pony races and horse races are within the Act, and it is legal for stewards at such meetings to license bookmakers under the Act, if there is a totalisator permit for such meetings. If there is not a totalisator permit, under section 34 of the Act tho stewards can admit or exclude bookmakers just as they think fit.”
