On Sunday last a few enthusiastic swimmers started a subscription for the purpose of getting funds to erect a shower-bath in the shed on the I beach, A fair sum was promised by j bathers present, and since then sub- j scriptions have been coming in well ' to Mr H. Miller, who was appointed ' secretary and treasurer to the fund. : The want of a shower-bath has been keenly felt for some time, and the fund should have the support of both casual and permanent swimmers. | During the week steps are to be taken to call a meeting of those interested in the formation of a swimming club, and it is to be hoped that there will be a good attendance* to give the club a good start. If the new body is put on a sound footing at once a good deal of racing can be done this season. It is further desirable that the club bo formed now so that an early start with racing can be made next year when the school bath should be available. J
