GENERAL NOTICE GIVEN TO EAIPLOYEES. DEPUTATION TO THE PREAIIER. United Press Association —Copyright (Received December 9, 0.51 a.m.) SYDNEY, December 8. Tlie latest development of the Lithgow ironworks ouestion is that notice was posted to-day_tliat all-de-partments of the works, with the exception of the blast furnaces and iron mine at Carcoar, be closed down to-morrow. This will render 1750 men idle, and directly and indirectly affect 3000 persons. 4 - A deputation representing all classes of Lithgow waits on the Premier to-morrow to urge the Government to take steps to prevent the disaster threatening the town by the stoppage of works.
