RIFLE-SHOOTING
The shooting committee of the Gisborne Rifles met last night, and drew up tlio following programme:—Dec. 7th—Seven shots at 500, 600 and /00 •yards for two prizes presented by ‘Captain Beere; entrance free; December 14tlv —Handicap match, seven shots at 500, 600. and 700 yards, for Sergeant Cave’s trophy, entrance Is, entries, close Dec. 13th; Dec. -Ist Handicap Cup, seven shots at 300, 400, and 600 yards, entrance tree, entries close on 20th. It was decided tliat the matches lor Sergeant Cave’s trophy and for the Handicap Cup be matches to count for the Aggregate Belt, which is to be awarded To the best score in three out ot tour 21-shot matches. ' . There is at present displayed in All \V. Miller’s window a handsome silver inkstand,, presented by Colonel Porter to the highest scorer (Captain Tombleson) in the teams match- at tlio meeting held on King s Brthdaybv the Poverty Bay Rifle Association.
