BUSINESS NOTES.

Messrs H. J. Peacocke and Co. notify that they have decided to discontinue building and contracting, and to confine their business to the sale of timber. A large stock of sawn and dressed timber, mouldings, house-blocks, joinery, etc., is kept on hand, and regular shipments are arriving. Special quotations will be supplied to builders.

At Messrs Malcolm and Co.’s mart, Lowe street, the order of sales tomorrow- is as follows: 11 a.in. poultry and produce; 12, noon, furniture; 1 li.m., bicycles. The County Council calls tenders for- tw-o metal contracts, quarrying, spawling, and breaking; also for clearing drains alt Patutahi and Matawliero.

A lost cheque drawn by J. G. -Johnstone is advertised for.

Tenders are called for the purchase of 408 acres at- the Waimata Valley. The property is divided into seven paddocks, and winters 24 sheep to tlie acre, in addition to 50 head of cattle. -There is a- five-roomed house and an orchard, together with outbuildings and stock-yards. Terms are advertised. Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. and Dalgety and Co. have an entry of 600 sheep and 20 fat pigs, for the Matawhero stock sale on Thursday next. Further entries are invited.

A pearl-drop ear-ring, lost at or on the way to tlie Theatre, is advertised for.

Some false teeth which have been lost- are advertised for.

Tlie tweive ladies’ and gentlemen’s bicycles to be submitted "by auction to-day by Messrs Miller and Craig will repay inspection. They are of well-finished English manufacture, “Winchurcli” 1908 pattern: To each machine is fitted Dunlop Rubber Co. tyres, free wheel, Eadie coaster bubs, and front and back cable rim brake, - and with each w-ill. be given a complete set of extras, including mud-guards, pump, _ spanners, oil-can, etc. Tlie sale is at 2 o’clock in the firm’s new premises, next to Dustin’s. Special terms may be obtained on application.
