ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
ACCIDENT AT MORERE. At Morere a painful accident occurred on Tuesday night to Mr. Marsh, son-in-law of Mr. Cooper, 01 the Morere private hotel. Mr. Marsh was walking from the bush to the hotel at about 8 o’clock, when he took a wrong path, and stumbled over a cliff 9ft deep, breaking liis leg. A telegram was sent to Dr. Somerville, -at "Wiairoa, and he arrived at 4 o’clock the following morning. The sufferer’s leg was then set, and lie is progressing favorably. Press Association. DUNEDIN, Deo. 5. Henry Lawson Jolmston, who lived at St. Clare, ; died this morning,, apparently as the result of a slight wound on the top of the head inflicted by a corkscrew. On November 25th deceased, who had a corkscrew- in his hand, stooped under a table to pick up something. When lie rose he was bleeding profusely from a wound in the head. A pad was made and the . flow of blood •stopped, but every time the pad was taken off the bleeding Commenced afresh. Deceased t-oolc ill early this morning, and when the doctor arrived was dead. Deceased w-as well 'known iii racing circles a few years ago."
