United Press Association—Copyright LONDON, Dec. 3. At the wool sales there was increased competition. Prices for all descriptions were fully maintained. WOOL SALE AT NAPIER. DROP OF 2d TO 3d ALL ROUND. Press Association. NAPIER, Dec. 3. The first wool sale of the season opened this morning before a large and representative attendance. The catalogue . comprised bales, as ■against 714 S last year. The opening air of buoyancy then apparent was, liowever, to-day missing. Bidding was kept in defined limits, and in a majority of instances failed to reach the sellers’ ideas of value, and a large proportion passed in. Some of the best crossbred wool, for which last year Is and 13d was offered, showed a drop of 3d. Buyers, too, complained that the wool as a whole had deteriorated, and the staple was not so well grown nor so good in character as last year. Later. . At the wool sale to-dav the top price was 124 d, realised for a fine sample of Corriedale wool. Fine crossbred sold up to 91d, medium crossbred up to 83d, and coarse up to 9d. Best half-breds brought up to lid. The drop was from 2d to 3d per lb all round.
