Mr B. Couston, supervising engineer of tho waterworks, and, Air. Bignell, of th 0 Biiir.al I’apbi Company, arrived from south on .Saturday', on business connected with the waterworks.
Mr and Airs G. J. AVhite, Aiakoninko, Tokoanuru, arrived in Gisborne on Saturday after a three year’s sojourn in tho Old Country, and proceed to Tokomaru by tlie Haupiri to-morrow. •Bishop Williams arrived back on Saturday from his trip up the Coast. He proceeds to Hawke’s Bay m a few days. Tho Vcn. Archdoason Williams is still detained at Tuparoa, where his ankle' was sprained in a trap accident. The injury is worse than at first thought, ar.d tho Archdeacon could not be moved on Friday to board the Haupiri. Mr. James AVallace, licensee of tlie Turanganui Hotel, died oil Saturday morning, from galloping consumption, which set in after a recent bad attack of influenza. Mr. Wallace was for many years in business on his own account in Gisborne and Ormond, and afterwards joined the staff of Alessrs. Williams and Kettle, taking over the Turanganui Hotel a few months ago. The funeral took place yesterday at the Aldkaraka cemetery. Deceased was an old Alason, and was buried with full Alasonic rites. The Rev. W. Grant performed the church burial service, the Rev. C. Griffin and Air. W. L. File performing Alasonic and Foresters services respectively. Air. Frank Harris is about- again, his late illness not proving as serious as anticipated: There is no change to report in the condition of Air. J. Cannon, recently badly injured at Tolaga. Dr. De Olive Lowe, of Auckland, who is to make an examination of tlie sufferer with Rontgen rays, has postponed liis visit, arriving on Wednesday. Alessrs. B. Couston and Bignell, who had been on a short visit to Gisborne in connection witli the waterworks, left for .South last night. The following are visitors at the Alasonic Hotel: —-Alessrs. S. Howarth, H. C. AYilliams, H. B. AVillrams, T. F. Langland, H. Frazer, and A. Heale.
At the Hospital yesterday' the death occurred of TJios. Croker AVilliams, at. the age of 55. Deceased was a carpenter, liad been six or seven years in Gisborne, having como from Napier. He lias a son and daughter in Gisborne.
