WAIAPU COUNTY COUNCIL.

(Special to Times.) WAIPIRO DAY. Nov. 28. A meeting of the Waiapu County Council was held on Wednesday, 27th inst. Present: Crs. A. 13. Williams (chairman), Sherwood, H. De Lautour, Knox, Cotterill, and K. S. Williams. Incoming correspondence was considered as follows : From W. Oates, Tokomaru, asking that licenses be granted for selling fish.—Received. From De Lautour, Barker, and Stock, forwarding loan proposal for Waiau district completed.—Received. From W. Oates, Tokomaru, forwarding for recommendation of ■ the Council the names of Messrs. Busby, Potao, Fail-lie, and "W. Oates, as constituting the Tokomaru Cemetery trustees. . • From Messrs. MeLouglilin, Do Lautour, and Burns, forwarding particulars of machinery for crushing and delivering metal.—Received. From the Colonial Secretary, requesting a return of ratepayers and the respective number of votes in the Waiapu County.—lnformation already forw'arded. From Messrs. Nolan and Sheet, asking if the road surveyed on portions of Mr. Busby’s run is required.—Decided that the Council take steps to have the road closed. From W. Fox, Tuparon, applying for a billiard-room license.—Granted. From H. W. Geissler, drawing the Council’s attention to the way in which the Waiapu ferry is conducted. —Received. The Engineer’s report was read and considered. After accounts had been passed for payment tho meeting terminated. The annual meeting was held on tho same day. Cr. Sherwood proposed Mr. A. B. Williams as chairman. This was seconded by Cr. Knox and carried. Tlie Chairman .proposed that Mr. W. O’Ryan be appointed secretary, treasurer, and engineer, and also that Mr. A. P. Durrant be appointed clerk. Both nominations were seconded by Cr. Sherwood, and carried. The' Council meets as before on the fourth "Wednesday in each month. The Hospital Board members elected were:—Messrs. A. B. "Williams, Sherwood, McCracken, and K. S. Williams. Mr. W. O’Ryan was appointed lion, secretary and treasurer, and Mr. A. P. Durrant clerk-
