MATAWHERO STOCK SALE. MODERATE ENTRY AND GOOD COMPETITION. Tlio usual fortnightly sale was held at Matawhcro yesterday. Owing to the shearing season being now in full swing, the entries of sheep were small in-comparison with late sales, but the quality of those yarded was fairly well up to recent standards. The cattle entry was again large, and included some prime beef suitable for freezing purposes'. There was a good attendance of buyers, and competition in some of the lines disposed of was extremely keen. As is generally the caso a number of horses wore offered. This practice is not appreciated by the auctioneers, and is unsatisfactory to all concerned, as it delays the sale proper, and as a rule horse-huy-ers are not present. SHEEP. About 3000 were yarded, owes and | wethers predominating. Hoggets were again in good demand, but the ! entry was much lower than in tlio previous sales. A few lots of fat , lambs, shorn and woolly, were offered, j and changed hands, but the prices obtained could hardly bo called good. Included amongst tlie wethers was a line of L7OO odd shorn, from Mr. I. \V Reid, of Tolaga Bay, and those of . them that were sold realised a very : satisfactory figure, 500 going to Mr. I G. W. Humphries, of Kaiterataln, at 16 s 6d. , , The following is the range of prices in each case, where not otherwise stated the sheep being shorn : —Eat wethers 12s to 16s 6d, mediums 9s 4d fat ewes 11s 8d to 14s, medium 10s 6d and 11s Gd; ewes and lambs 10s Gd to 23s (woolly); fat hoggets 13s to 14s 8d (woolly), mediums 11s /d to 12s. 'the following are the priucipal Wethers. —46 at 9s 4d, 279 at 12s, 169 at 14s 3d, GOO at 16s 6d. Ewes.—lo at 10s 6d, 140 at ils Gd, 21 at 11s 7d, 14 at 11s Bd, 36 at 13s, 23 at 14s, 2 woolly at 225. Amongst these was a hue of 20 from Cooper s estate, ■ e liau, showing plenty of condition Tnwe were bought by Nelson Bios, loi freezing. Amongst the young stock offered a nice lot of 54 heifers from Air. Tombleson’s AVaimata property showed nice quality. These were passed in at £2 8s 6d, tlio owner s reserve not being readied. Practically no dairy stock wore yarded, and uhat were offered were difficult to dispose of at low prices. . The range of prices washat cattle, steeas £4 15s to £B, covs £3 6s to £5 10s; stores, steers £2 los to £3 12s Gd, heifers £2 15s to £3 4s. ' , Pigs: A good number wore.ottered, and the demand was good. AVeaners and slips sold from 14s to 235, while £2 os was obtained for a baconer. Horses: Several lots, were put up, including a couple of* horses ■ apd drays. No business was done, with the exception of one hack, sold for £5.

BUTTER EXPORT. AUCKLAND, Nov. 28. The total butter delivered into store at Auckland for tlie two works ended November 2 1 was 1u,291 boxes, being the record output for the province of Auckland. Of this quantity 18,474 boxes are for London, 1,116 boxes per Morayshire for "West of England ports, 450 boxes for South Africaf aucl 251 boxes for tho South Sea Islands.
