At the first wool sale of the season to-day 4375 bales were offered, being an increase of 365 bales on the opening sales of, last year. A decrease in prices was anticipated, owing clueny to the tightness of the money market, but it was rather surprising that this extended to fine wools. The decrease ranged from ljd to 3d. Both qualities of wopl were really in excellent condition, there being an all-round improvement an quality. . At the Auckland Farmers Union sales fino crossbreds realised from B|d to 9£<l, coarse breeds old to- ckl C- )• At 0. W. Binney and Co.’s sales lid was the top price realised for a consignment of half-bred wool from the Bay of Islands, but /d to M was the average price of half-breds At the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.’s sale, P. H.
