The Committee of the Gisborne auxilary of the British and Foreign Bible Society at their last meeting decided to hold tlio annual meeting on Thursday week, Dcecmbor sth, in tlio grounds of Archdeacon AVilliams, lo Kau, Cobdcn street, kindly lent tor tlio occasion.
The complimentary concert to bo tendered to Mrs. Buckerulgo in His Majesty's Theatre on Thursday, Dec. 6tli, promises to bo a musical event of much interest. A very fine programme is being prepared, and several singers now to Gisborne audiences have promised to assist.
Mr D. McLaren, secretary of tlio New ’Zealand .Waterside Workers’ Federation, - arrived in Gisborne on Saturday morning. He made exhaustive enquiries as to conditions of labor at tlio port, and in the evening ho addressed a meeting of waterside workers. Mr. McLaren returned South by tlio Taluno last night.

A series of bright, meetings yesterday marked tlio 21st anniversary of the Gisborno Salvation Army Corps. Adjutant Dickens was in command. The ball was well packed in the evening with the soldiery, friends, and visitors, and several interesting addresses were given appropriate to the occasion of the corps reaching maturity. Among tho speakers were Sisters Oldham and Henzler, the two members wlio have been longest associated with tho Army locally. The anniversary function on Tuesday evening promises to he most successful. The public tea at 6 o’clock will be followed by a general meeting at 8 o’clock, at which Hie Mayor (Mr. J. Town-1 ley) lias undertaken .to preside. An attractive vocal and instrumental concert, -with a number of other good items, should ensure an enjoyable evening.
