PERSONAL.

Dr. and Mrs. C. Innes, Wanganui, aro at present ou a short visit to friends in Gisborne. The Hon. Jas. Carroll intends to visit Gisborne as soou as possible after the close of the session.

Miss McArthur, who has been appointed nursing sister at the Hospital, loft Timaru on Saturday, and is expected to take up her duties during this week. Mr. E. G. Matthews is to take over tlio position of secretary to the Hospital next Saturday.

Mr. T. A. Coleman, arrived back ou Saturday from a trip to Wellington. Mr. J. Stewart, telegraph linesman, returned on Saturday from a holiday tour extending over three weeks. Dr. F, Wallace Mackenzie, Wellington, who has been on a short visit to Gisborne, returned home last night. Judge Jones leaves for Wairoa today to hold a sitting of the Native Appellate Court in conjunction with Judgo Itawson.

By the Talune last night, the Rev. 0. Griffin left for Napier to attend the meeting of the Methodist Synod. Mr. C. It. Neale, Government Veterinarian, left last night for Timaru, to which town lie lias been transferred. ' ;

Mr. Graham, who lias been in the hospital for a considerable period as the result of a trap accident oil tlie Turuheru bridge, is making good progress towards recovery, and is expected to leave the hospital in a few days.

There were slight signs for the better yesterday in the condition of Mr. J. Cannon, who was recently seriously injured at Tolaga, but his condition is not much changed. Oji Saturday Dr. Wilson, the re-cently-appointed superintendent of the Hospital, arrived from South, and took over the control of the institution.
