SUFFRAGETTES ON THE WARPATH.

A deputation of suffragettes interviewed Mr Haldane at Sheffield. He explained that personally lie favored the extension of the franchise to women, but he refused to promise to have the subiect mentioned in the King’s Speech at the opening of Iparliament. He characterised tihe interruptions at meetings as a deplorable piece of folly. Many suffragettes wore ejected from his meeting. [The Prinio Minister had advised suffragettes to keep on pestering publie men, and it is the ready and pei~ sistent adontiou of that advice which Mr. Haldane, a supporter of the extension of the franchise, denounces as a “deplorable pieco of felly. J HOWDY STUDENTS BREAK UP FEMALE MEETING. Two hundred students carrying hells, whistles, rattles, and comets prevented Mrs. Pankhurst addressing the suffragettes at Birmingham, finally dispersing the meeting with sulphurated hydrogen. Mis. Panlrhurst threatens that hundreds of suffragettes will confront Mr. Asquith if he speaks at Birmingham.
