Apropos of tho recent press telegrams from Auckland and Dunedin, it may be mentioned that these cities are not the only ones in which hotting offices are in full swing. In the main street a firm of bookmakers does a roaring business. Large numbers of people daily patronise the offices, and openly bet on races that take place in different parts of the colony.
