Cannon sought to follow him, hub his horse missed its footing anil horse and rider rolled down tho hill, tho liorso being killed outright after rolling about eight chains. Mr. Canon was thrown clear, hut roiled down about two chains. Ho was badly injured but regained consciousness. Elliott rodo 21 miles hack to Fitzgerald’s whonco mon woro despatched with a strotchor. Dr. Weeks was summoned, and finding Mr. Cannon’s spine was badly injured, ho sent for Dr. Collins, who arrived about 1.15 a.m. yesterday. After examination, Dr. Collins pronounced that the spinal cord was so badly injured that Mr. Cannon’s recovery was improbable. Tlio Tuatoa left at 10.30 o’clock yesterday morning to bring tho sufferer to town. Tire Tiuatca. returned to Gishonnle last evening, arriving at 7.45.
