River Plato mutton is in large supply and is being strongly pushed for sale. Canterbury mutton .is at 3d, North Island 3£d. There is a good demand for all lamb, .considering tlio lateness of tlio season. Canterbury is at- 53d, other than Canterbury 5Jd. The beef market is dull and supplies of River Plato aro heavy. Hind quarters aro at 3Jd, forequarters 2jjd. Till' butter market is firm. Tlio demand is good in anticipation of small arrivals for so 1110 time, although buyers inro holding back expecting prices to go lower. Choicest New Zealand is at 118 s. Australian 117 s, Argentine 117 s, Danish 1225, Siberian 110 s. The cheese market is quiot- with less demand. Canadian manufactures average 62s per cwt. The liemp market ■is quiet and prices ia.ro irregular, as tlio demand is principally speculative. New Zealand good fair on spot is quoted at £3O, fair in the same positien £2B 10s, both nominal. Nothing is offering here. January to March shipments aro quoted good fair grade £2B 10s, fair £27, fair current Manila £29 10s. A largo supply is expected. The cocksfoot seed market is quiet and buyers aro not keen to do business. Prices aro firm at 75s per cwt. Supplies from tlio River Plato for October, 1907, are as follows ; —Mutton : London, 57,533 carcases, Liverpool 162,700, Hull 7517, Newcastle 7950, Southampton 2297, Cardiff 3100, Ireland 900; total 759,-8-27. Lamb: Liverpool 317 carcases. Tlio following aro current quotations for Bradford tops: Thirty-sixes (low crossbreds) Is 2.1 d. forties (low crossbreds) Is 3ld, forty-fours (medium crossbrods) Is 4|d, fifties (half breds) Is lOd, fifty-sixes (quarter-breds) 2s, sixties (merino) 2s 3id.
