Tho first wool sale of tho season was held here fo-day_, when there were about fonty buyers present. Bidding was not animated, and prices were on the average from Id to lid less than at tlie opening sale of last season, in sympathy with the decline in London, though good crossbreds realised within a farthing of tho Best price realised last November. Alany lots were passed, offers not reaching the owners’' ideas of value. Tho catalogue comprised 1700 bales, the condition ol which generally -was good. Prices ranged as follows: Super half-bred lid to llld, medium halfbred lOd to IOJd, inferior 9)d to Old ; super crossbreds 9Jd to lOd, medium Bld to 9Jd, inferior 7d to 81; bellies and pieces 6d to 8)d; stained pieces and locks 3d to 4d ; dead wool s!d to 7jd; crutchings 4gd to 6d.
