Tlio recent trouble at the Samaritan Home, Christchurch, as a result of which the mati'on and sub-matron were reprimanded for failing to comply with tho direction of the chairman to hand over a girl inmate to thoTe Oranga Homo authorities, came before the Board of Trustees again at a' meeting held to-day. The chairman (Mr. H. B. Sorenson) resigned his position as chairman for the reason that the staff would not obey his instructions. The resignation was accepted, Mr. F. Broad being appointed to the presidency. A notice of motion that the. services of the matron and sub-matron should he dispensed with was held over for consideration at a special meeting. Tlio matron, ill a letter to the Board, expressed regret at not- being able for conscientious reasons to carry out the chairman’s instructions to hand the girl over.
